Normal operation

Normal operation. The grid is normal and the microinverter is talking to the IQ Gateway.

No communication with IQ Gateway

The grid is normal, but the microinverter is not communicating with the IQ Gateway, so monitoring may be missing.

What you can do

  • Check that your home Wi-Fi/internet is working and restart your router
  • Wait an hour - monitoring often reconnects by itself
  • If the inverter screen also shows a fault, or the alarm stays for more than a day, call your installer

Grid not present or out of specification

The AC grid is either not present or not within the specification, so the microinverter is not producing.

What you can do

  • Check whether the rest of your house or street has power, and check your network operator's outage map
  • Check the switchboard for a tripped solar/inverter breaker - reset it once only; if it trips again, leave it off and call an electrician
  • Once normal power is back the inverter usually reconnects on its own within a few minutes
  • If the power is normal but the alarm stays, call your installer

DC Resistance Low - Power Off condition

The microinverter has detected low insulation resistance between the panel wiring and earth (possible defective module insulation, wiring/connectors or moisture) and has stopped producing. It stays off until the sensor is reset.

What you can do

  • Keep clear - do not touch the panels, rooftop isolators, DC cables or the inverter
  • Note the code and whether it appears in wet weather or early morning - this helps the electrician
  • If you see smoke, smell burning or hear crackling, keep everyone away and call 000
  • Call a licensed electrician or Total Solar - insulation and earth faults need testing with proper equipment

Short red blinks after DC power is first applied indicate a failure during microinverter start-up.

What you can do

  • Note the code, time and whether it clears by itself
  • You may restart the system once using the owner shutdown/start-up steps in your manual. Do not open covers or touch cabling
  • If the code returns or the system stays offline, call your installer - internal faults are a warranty/technician job

AC Frequency Changing Too FastWarning
AC Frequency Changing Too Fast

AC frequency is the frequency at which voltage varies on the electricity network. The microinverter reports that this value is changing more rapidly than allowed. Frequency Changing Too Fast events are usually transient and self-correcting by the electricity network.

What you can do

  • This is caused by the mains frequency moving outside the allowed range, usually briefly
  • The inverter reconnects by itself once the grid is stable
  • If it keeps happening, note the times and call your installer

AC Frequency Out Of RangeWarning
AC Frequency Out Of Range

The microinverter reports that the frequency coming from the electricity network is either too low or too high as specified by applicable regional standards. AC frequency is the frequency at which voltage varies on the electricity network. Frequency Out of Range events are usually transient and self- correcting by the electricity network. When the microinverter detects an out of frequency condition, it must remain offline until the electricity network has been within acceptable limits continuously for a short period of time (seconds to minutes, varies by region). If, during that time, the utility again exceeds or falls short of acceptable limits, the timer must restart and the microinverter may not begin producing power for an additional short period following the last out- of-bounds condition.

What you can do

  • This is caused by the mains frequency moving outside the allowed range, usually briefly
  • The inverter reconnects by itself once the grid is stable
  • If it keeps happening, note the times and call your installer

AC Voltage Average HighWarning
AC Voltage Average High

The microinverter reports that the average AC voltage coming from the utility over the past 10 minutes was too high for the configured grid profile.

What you can do

  • This is usually caused by the mains supply, not the solar system
  • The inverter normally reconnects by itself once grid voltage is back in range
  • If it happens often (especially on sunny afternoons), note the times and call your installer - they can check the voltage and settings and talk to the network if needed

AC Voltage Out Of RangeWarning
AC Voltage Out Of Range

The microinverter reports that the AC voltage coming from the utility is either too low or too high as specified by applicable regional standards. When a microinverter detects the voltage out of range condition, it does not produce power (per regulation) until the utility voltage returns within acceptable limits for several minutes (time varies by region). If during that time the utility voltage again goes beyond acceptable limits, the timer restarts.

What you can do

  • This is usually caused by the mains supply, not the solar system
  • The inverter normally reconnects by itself once grid voltage is back in range

Critical TemperatureWarning
Critical Temperature

This rare condition occurs if the microinverter reports an internal temperature that exceeds its rated range. It reacts by producing less power to reduce internal temperature. This reflects internal temperature coming from a sensor inside the microinverter, not the ambient temperature. Once the internal temperature of the microinverter is once again within normal limits, it will resume full power production and this event message will clear.

DC Power Too Low

This condition may occur at sunrise or sunset, while the modules are covered with snow, or during very bad weather. This event indicates that sunlight levels are too low for effective production. Once sunlight levels increase, the microinverter resumes power production and this event message will clear.

  • This is normal at dawn, dusk, in heavy cloud or when panels are shaded
  • No action needed if it clears once the sun is up

An insulation resistance (IR) sensor in the microinverter measures the resistance between the positive and negative PV inputs to ground. Grid GoneFault
Grid Gone

The microinverter has detected grid instability. In most cases, this points to a problem with the utility service (e.g., a power outage). In other cases, this may be a false positive and a microinverter may be incorrectly reporting grid instability. In this case a microinverter software upgrade may be needed to help resolve this issue.

What you can do

  • Check the switchboard for a tripped solar/inverter breaker - reset it once only; if it trips again, leave it off and call an electrician
