Inverter Wi-Fi setup guides

Step-by-step Wi-Fi setup and reset instructions, written by our team, for 66 inverter and battery brands, plus a safe checklist to get your system back online.

Reconnect checklist · Shutdown & restart · Brands A–Z

Can't get it online? A licensed electrician can reconnect your system and check it's running properly.

Reconnect your inverter to Wi-Fi: safe checklist

Before you start. Every step below is done from your phone, your router or by looking at the inverter screen. Do not open the inverter, battery or switchboard, do not touch cables or isolators other than as your manufacturer's owner guide allows, and never work on the system in wet weather. If you see smoke, smell burning or see damage, keep clear and call 000. Anything beyond these steps is work for a licensed electrician.
  1. Check the inverter is producing. In daylight, look at the inverter screen or status light. If it shows a fault code, look up the code first; a Wi-Fi fix won't clear a fault.
  2. Check your home Wi-Fi. Make sure the router is on and the internet works on your phone near the inverter. Most inverter dongles only use the 2.4 GHz band.
  3. Did anything change? A new router, new Wi-Fi name or new password is the most common cause. The dongle needs to be given the new details.
  4. Restart the router. Turn it off for 30 seconds, then back on, and wait 10 minutes for the dongle to reconnect.
  5. Look at the dongle light. Note the colour and blink pattern on the Wi-Fi stick and compare it with the manufacturer's guide below.
  6. Re-run the app's network setup. Open the brand's monitoring app, use its Wi-Fi or network configuration option and enter your Wi-Fi name and password exactly (they are case-sensitive).
  7. Check signal strength. If the router is far from the inverter, a Wi-Fi extender near the inverter often fixes drop-outs.
  8. Still offline after 24 hours? Request a service visit and we'll get it back online.

Shutdown & restart (owner-safe)

Any system: shut down

  1. Follow the shutdown label at your switchboard or inverter if there is one.
  2. At the switchboard, switch off the solar supply main switch (often labelled "Inverter" or "Solar").
  3. If there is an AC isolator next to the inverter, switch it off.
  4. Wait for the inverter display or lights to go off.

Any system: restart

  1. Switch the AC isolator at the inverter back on (if fitted).
  2. Switch the solar supply main switch back on at the switchboard.
  3. Wait a few minutes. The inverter checks the grid before it reconnects.
  4. If a breaker trips again, leave it off and request a service visit.
