GivEnergy error codes explained

What 10 GivEnergy inverter fault and error codes mean, in plain English, with safe checks you can do and when to call a licensed electrician.

Guide only. This information is a general guide taken from manufacturer documentation. All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician. Never open your inverter, battery or switchboard. If you see smoke, smell burning or see damage, keep clear and call 000.
CodeMessage & meaningModelType
6Safety-Critical
Current Leak High

The ground fault may be caused by various reasons such as the AC side N line is not connected properly or the surrounding humidity is high.

What you can do

  • Do not touch the panels, rooftop isolators or DC cables
  • Note the code and whether it appears in wet weather or early morning - this helps the electrician
  • If it clears by itself once things dry out, still let us know if it keeps returning
  • Call a licensed electrician or Total Solar - insulation and earth faults need testing with proper equipment

7Safety-Critical
PV Isolation Fault

If the impedance is too low, the grounding of the photovoltaic panel may be poor, the photovoltaic panel may be aged, or the direct current The cable is broken or the surroun

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) Inverter
8Info
No Utility

The inverter does not detect grid information.

What you can do

  • Check whether the rest of your house or street has power, and check your network operator's outage map
  • Check the switchboard for a tripped solar/inverter breaker - reset it once only; if it trips again, leave it off and call an electrician
  • Once normal power is back the inverter usually reconnects on its own within a few minutes
  • If the power is normal but the alarm stays, call your installer

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) · Guide only. All work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) Inverter
9Fault
Bus Over Voltage

The internal BUS voltage is out of range.

What you can do

  • Note the code, then restart the system once using the owner shutdown/start-up steps in your manual
  • If the code comes back, call your installer - this is an internal fault that needs a licensed electrician or the manufacturer

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) · Guide only. All work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) Inverter
10Warning
DSP Communication Fault

Caused by the interference of external strong magnetic field.

What you can do

  • Check that your home Wi-Fi/internet is working and restart your router
  • Wait an hour - monitoring often reconnects by itself
  • If the inverter screen also shows a fault, or the alarm stays for more than a day, call your installer

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) · Guide only. All work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) Inverter
1Warning
Inverter NTC Fault

The working environment temperature of the inverter is too high or too low.

What you can do

  • Check from a safe distance that the inverter is shaded, has clear space around it and that nothing is blocking the vents
  • It usually recovers once it cools down
  • If it repeats often or you can hear a noisy/failed fan, call your installer

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) · Guide only. All work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) Inverter
2Warning
Grid Frequency Fault

The inverter detects that the grid frequency is outside the normal range required by safety regulations.

What you can do

  • This is caused by the mains frequency moving outside the allowed range, usually briefly
  • The inverter reconnects by itself once the grid is stable
  • If it keeps happening, note the times and call your installer

3Warning
Grid Voltage Fault

The inverter detects that the AC voltage is outside the normal range required by safety regulations.

What you can do

  • This is usually caused by the mains supply, not the solar system
  • The inverter normally reconnects by itself once grid voltage is back in range
  • If it happens often (especially on sunny afternoons), note the times and call your installer - they can check the voltage and settings and talk to the network if needed

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) Inverter
4Fault
PV Voltage Fault

The inverter has detected that the PV voltage is outside the normal range of the rated requirements.

What you can do

  • Check solar generation in the app compared with similar days
  • Do not touch the DC isolators, cables or connectors, and don't go on the roof
  • If it doesn't clear by itself, call your installer

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) · Guide only. All work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Gen3 6-11kW three-phase hybrid (AU) Inverter
5Fault
DCI High

The inverter has detected a high DC

What you can do

  • Restart the system once using the owner shutdown/start-up steps in your manual
  • If it comes back, call your installer
